StopFalls Sacramento Coalition

Agency on Aging Area 4 is a proud member of StopFalls Sacramento, a coalition of agencies that gather with the mission to support healthy aging in place through regional strategies that reduce fall risk and injury among older adults. 

Coalition Meetings

Stop Falls Sacramento Coalition meetings are held on the first Wednesday of every other month, beginning in January, from 2:00 - 3:00 pm.

StopFalls Sacramento meetings are open to the public and include a guest presentation on a fall prevention topic, coalition activity planning, and round table networking.

A Matter of Balance:

A Matter of Balance is a nationally recognized, evidence-based program designed to help older adults build confidence and reduce their risk of falling. Through practical strategies and gentle exercises, participants learn how to stay active, improve strength and balance, and make simple changes to enhance safety at home. The program is ideal for adults age 60+ who have concerns about falling, may have fallen in the past, or have limited activities due to fear of falling. Participants leave the class feeling more confident, empowered, and in control of their ability to stay independent and active.

Bingocize®

Bingocize® is an evidence-based program that combines the familiar fun of Bingo with light exercise and wellness education. Designed for older adults and individuals with disabilities, this engaging class helps participants stay active, improve strength and mobility, and connect with others in a supportive group setting. Sessions are typically held twice a week and include a mix of movement, health tips, and interactive play. Offered in both in-person and virtual formats, Bingocize® makes it easy—and enjoyable—to build healthy habits and stay socially connected.

Stepping On

Stepping On is a nationally recognized, evidence-based program designed to help older adults reduce their risk of falls and stay independent. Delivered in a small group setting over seven sessions, the workshop focuses on building confidence and promoting lasting behavior change. Participants learn practical strategies such as exercises to improve strength and balance, ways to make their homes safer, and how vision and medications can impact fall risk. With its supportive, interactive format, Stepping On empowers individuals to take control of their safety and remain active in their daily lives.

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention

Tai Chi for Arthritis and Fall Prevention is a gentle, evidence-based program that helps participants improve balance, strength, and overall well-being through slow, guided movements. Offered once or twice a week with optional home practice, the classes are appropriate for adults of all fitness levels, including those with arthritis or joint concerns. Participants build flexibility, mobility, and stamina while learning techniques that can help reduce pain and the risk of falls. With its calm, supportive approach, the program promotes both physical health and relaxation.
